Supercars 2008 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 The Complete Race
$35.00
The 2008 Bathurst 1000 was notable on several counts. For Ford it was a landmark race, a day when the Blue Oval seemingly could do no wrong. Its Holden opponents either broke down, crashed or just weren’t fast enough. The Holden Racing Team had a weekend to forget, with Paul Radisich suffering leg and back injuries in a nasty crash during Saturday practice in the HSV Dealer Team entry, and then Mark Skaife shunted the lead HRT Commodore during the race proper, after they’d been delayed earlier by clutch problems. The Greg Murphy/Jason Richards Tasman Motorsport Commodore unexpectedly emerged as the only Holden with the speed to challenge Lowndes and Whincup – although Murphy argued after the race that they’d have been even faster had it not been for a clash with Lowndes on the opening lap that bent a steering arm on the Holden. Lowndes escaped penalty for that incident; from there he and Whincup were always the combo to beat. They had pace to burn and yet at the same time weren’t burning through the fuel – even while they were showing the way out front, they were managing to extend their pitstop fuel range longer than almost everyone else. It was a winning formula, and Lowndes and Whincup did the job on the track to secure what in the end was a fairly comfortable win – and a hattrick on the Mountain for the pair, no less.
Also features the action that occurred during the commercial breaks.
