Johnson becomes a ‘rock’ star and Brock claims Commodore’s first Mountain crown
The history books show that Peter Brock and Jim Richards claimed victory at Bathurst in 1980 – but many race fans will argue that it really was Dick Johnson who was the true winner.
An accident with an errant rock launched Johnson into the national sporting landscape, his emotional interview afterwards on Channel 7 opening the floodgates for donations to rebuild his car.
For the first time, to celebrate the 35th anniversary of this amazing race and one of the most famous moments in Bathurst history, Chevron is releasing this memorable race in full with the entire race day telecast included on this new release.
The cameras kept filming during the commercial breaks too, meaning this title includes a range of never-before-seen material from the ’80 classic.
It was a classic fight at the front between Holden’s horde of Commodores and a fleet of Falcons with a wide and varied grid of makes and models helping make this a release one to have for your Bathurst collection.
